Obituary

Albert Verba, 99, of Xenia passed away Wednesday June 12, 2019 at Legacy Assisted Living of Xenia. He was born May 14, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Dominik and Anna Richter Verba. He was a member of Faith Community United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II at both Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of American Legion Post # 95, Xenia Masonic Lodge # 49, Scottish Rite of Dayton, WPAFB Quarter Century Club, The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Assoc., and a life member of the Independent Telephone Pioneers. He retired as a communications specialist with the United States Government, WPAFB, after 32 years of employment. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Betty Thayer and Doris Eakins of Xenia, nephew Michael (Brenda) Eakins of Beavercreek, nieces Marlene Simonton of Bossier City, Louisiana and Norma Jean Dougherty of Akron, great-nephew Kyle Eakins of Hilliard, great-niece Amy (Geoffrey) Winningham of Delaware, OH, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maxine L. (Allen) Verba, on November 21, 2010, and by a sister, Irene Boers. Al will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery, Fayette County. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Community United Methodist Church, 100 Country Club Dr., Xenia, OH, 45385, in his memory.
