Arthur M. "Mike" Derr, 69, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Soin Medical Center. He was born March 5, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Arthur Martin and Rachel Simpkins Derr. He was a 1966 graduate of Wayne High School, attended the Union United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Air Force and from Greene County Parks and Recreation. He is survived by his wife, Rita A. (VanTress) Derr, whom he married November 24, 1973, a daughter, Michel (Billy) Grizzle, Xenia, two sons, Michael (Rebecca) Derr and Andrew (Resa) Derr, all of Jamestown,  4 grandchildren, Jessica (Blake) Benedict, Jamestown, Cody Derr,  Alex Grizzle, and Natalie Grizzle, all of Xenia, 4 great-grandchildren, Brayden, Jaxon, Maddison, and Hayden, two sisters, Karen Shapiro, Beavercreek, and Rose Ella (Michael) Pich, Maryland, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  Graveside services will be held at 11am, Friday, December 29, at Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
