Betty V. Strickland, 87, of Xenia, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017, at her residence. She was born July 30, 1930, in Clinton County, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond H. and Pauline Webster McCoy. She was a member of Memorial United Presbyterian Church, and retired as the first woman postal carrier at the Xenia Post Office. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Strickland, Xenia, four sons, Marlyn F. (Linda) Strickland, Jr., Beavercreek, Kenneth (Sherry) Strickland, Xenia, David (Mary Jane) Strickland, Cadiz, KY, and Gary (Valli) Strickland, Xenia, 14 grandchildren, Ken (Kelly) Strickland, Misty Strickland, Gary (Dawn) Strickland, Jr., Christopher Strickland, Jennifer Strickland, David "Joey" (Jessica) Strickland, Emily (Lee) Akers, Allison Strickland, Kelly Strickland, Kimberly (Dallas) Cherry, Matthew Strickland, Jessica (Clay) Bennington, Sarah Strickland, and Marlyn Dale (Mariah) Strickland, 18 great-grandchildren, a brother, Harold Junior (Jeannie) McCoy, Xenia, two sisters-in-law, Lam McCoy, Tampa, FL, and Ruth Oliver, Xenia, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends, including six very special Vietnamese children, Van, Dieu, Minh, Huong, Can and Tuan Tran. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Marlyn F. Strickland, on June 28, 2001, a brother, Robert R. McCoy, a half-brother, Floyd McCoy, a half-sister, Doris Pickering, and by a a sister-in-law, Lorraine McCoy. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 10am, Thursday, November 30, at Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Rd., Xenia, with Rev. Kelley W. Shin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Wednesday at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Burial will be in New Burlington Cemetery.
