Betty L. (Brown) Turvy, 78, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at her residence. She was born April 21, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Frank and Isabel Herclotz Brown. She was a member of Faith Community United Methodist Church and retired from Greene County MR/DD. She was a 1956 graduate of Xenia High School, graduate of Wright State University (B.S.,M.S.), Toward Independence co-founder, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation "Mother of the Year", George H. W. Bush "County Points of Light" Award recipient, and received awards from Greene County Residential Services, and the Greene County Department of Human Services. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Turvy, whom she married January 5, 1957, two sons, Kris Turvy and Michael Turvy, grandchildren, Sarai (Allen) Riancho, Kevin (Cheyenne) Turvy, and Kyle (Ashley) Turvy, great-grandchildren, Aubrie Hawk, Sophi-Lee Turvy, Kinsley Riancho, Kannon Turvy, and KillianTurvy, a brother, Frank Brown, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends.
