Carl Edward
Miller
January 11, 1948 – December 13, 2025
Carl Edward Miller, 77, of Xenia, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, at Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek. Born on January 11, 1948, in Greene County, Ohio, Carl was the son of Estel and Mabel Shoemaker Miller.
Carl retired from General Motors, but his life of service extended far beyond his career. He proudly served the Xenia Township Fire Department for 33 years, during which time he achieved the rank of Captain. Firefighting was more than a duty to Carl—it was a calling. He was deeply committed to his community and to the men and women he served alongside, forming lifelong friendships through his years in the department.
Carl was a dedicated member of the Xenia Fraternal Order of Eagles #1689 for 31 years, serving as the president for 4 years, a district 12 officer and former Ohio State Officer of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and also a proud member of the Xenia Lodge of Freemasons, organizations that reflected his strong sense of brotherhood, service, and loyalty.
Outside of his commitments, Carl found freedom on the open road. An avid motorcycle rider, he loved his Gold Wing and was a proud member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, spending countless hours enjoying road trips across the country. Those rides brought him peace, adventure, and stories he loved to share with family and friends.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Karen (McClellan) Miller; his son, Brian Miller (fiancée, Jennifer); two daughters, Lisa (Christopher) Kinzer and Brandy Miller; three grandchildren, Colby Miller, Brent (Kiersten) Miller, and Carly Miller; and a great-granddaughter, A'Mylah. He is also survived by his sister, Velma Lyons; his brother, James (Mary) Miller; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Phillip Miller, and his brother-in-law, Guy Lyons.
Carl will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him—for his steady presence, his service to others, and his love of life's simple joys. Services will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 1204 W. Second Street, Xenia, Ohio on January 17, 2026, with visitation from 9a.m.-12p.m. and memorial service at 12 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity in Carl's memory. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.NeedlFuneralHome.com.
