Obituary

Charles W. Bath, 96, of Xenia, passed away on his birthday, Friday, January 6, 2017 at Greenewood Manor. He was born on January 6, 1921, in Xenia, Ohio the son of John and Mary K. (Armentrout) Bath. He was a member of the Xenia Friends. He graduated from the Xenia School System in 1939. He married the love of his life Alice "Peggy" Liddle in July 1956. She passed away on October 20, 2004.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Edwin J. Bath, J. Willard Bath, and Dr. Richard Bath and his sisters, Martha Mangan, Mabel Semler, Mary Louise Bittner and Edith Jacquot. Charlie is survived by several nieces and nephews and by many close friends.

Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 8, 1941. He was assigned to Gen. Patton's 3rd Army in the Signal Corps.  He saw combat at the Normandy "D" Day Utah Beach invasion and was involved in the "Battle of the Bulge".  He assisted in the liberation of the Buchenwald POW concentration camp.  Charlie was Honorably Discharged in November 1945. He then went to work at the Dayton Power and Light Co. as a lineman where he retired after 42 years.

Charlie was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds baseball club. In his younger years he would spend his vacations in Florida watching the Reds in spring training.  He was also an avid golf player.

The family would like to thank the Greenewood Manor for all the loving care and comfort given to Charlie.

As per his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral.  Graveside services will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Xenia, Ohio at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity. Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com
