Charles Alan Beason, 83, died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 4:45 p.m. at Hospice of Dayton after a short battle with cancer. Charlie was born March 28, 1933, the son of Erba L. and Alma Mendenhall Beason both deceased. He is survived by his companion of 17 years, Mary Ann VanTress of Xenia and her children, Kimberly Stackhouse, Deborah Craycraft, Donald VanTress, and their children, a sister, Nancy Beason Robinette Dabe of Xenia. He is also survived by nephews Dan (Susan) Robinette and Joe (Tracie) Robinette. There are three great-nieces and one great-nephew and their children. A niece Diane Robinette Carl is deceased. Surviving also are several caring cousins and special neighbors.
Charlie was born in Clinton County but spent most of his growing up years in Greene County. He attended church at Paintersville United Methodist and started school at White Chapel on Stone Road. He joined the Navy following Xenia High School graduation in 1951 and served most of four years aboard the USS Brush serving as a signalman during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1955. Charlie found employment with Ohio Bell and retired from AT&T (Lucent) in 1985. He later worked for a private communications firm for about 10 years and drove cars for automobile dealerships with most of his working years spent in Florida. He was an avid fisherman, a carpenter, repairman and painter who loved helping his neighbors.
In keeping with Charlie's wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charlie's memory can be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton OH 45420 or to the Chester Friends Church, c/o Billie Baker, 378 Darbyshire Drive Wilmington OH 45177. A private interment and a Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date. Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com .
