Charles Francis Durnbaugh , 87, of Fairborn, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017, after a lengthy battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). He was born in Beavercreek Township on December 2, 1930, to the late George Dewey and Ernestine B. (Wornstaff) Durnbaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 45 years Betty (Riel) Durnbaugh and by two brothers Marc and Ron. He is survived by his son Ken in Ocala, Florida; daughters Joyce (Al) Eades, Indianapolis, IN, Jill Dreyer, Covington, KY, and Toni (Roger) Felts, Florence, KY, and by his wife of 20 years Wanda (Ferguson) Durnbaugh. Charles graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1948 and attended The Ohio State University, Wilmington College, and the University of Dayton. He and his first wife Betty enjoyed singing in choral groups all of their lives. Charles is a member of Beaver United Church of Christ. He spent over forty years in the truck-trailer industry and was a nationally known leader for his knowledge in the parts and service segments of the industry. He was employed by several trailer manufacturers: Trailmobile, Inc, Brown Trailer Co., Ravens Mfg., and Fruehauf Trailers. For the last fifteen years, he has been a volunteer at Greene Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, August 5, at Beaver United Church of Christ, 1960 Dayton Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, with Rev. Brian Eastman officiating.
