Obituary

Charles Manley, 89, of Xenia, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Legacy Assisted Living of Xenia. He was born May 9, 1935, in Bath County, Kentucky.  During his 43-year working career, Charles worked in the factory at NCR, owned and operated Manley's Meats in Xenia, and retired as an inspector with the Ohio Department of Agriculture in 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Nellie Toy Manley, his wife of nearly 60 years Marlene (Clark) Manley, a daughter, Janet Manley, and by a brother, Earl Manley. He is survived by sons Brent Manley and Mark Manley; and son and daughter-in -law Kevin and Kirsten Manley; special people adopted into the Manley family, Kevin and Kristen Hurley and their children, Luke, Katie, and Sydney. Charles loved great music and spent many years supporting his children and their students at their numerous concerts and musicals. In addition, Charles loved University of Kentucky basketball (a fan since the 1940's), enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, genealogy and traveling to New York City to see Broadway shows. Charles lived a humble Christian life and served as a leader in several area churches, including Ledbetter Road Church of God, Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene, and Xenia Westminster Presbyterian Church. A resident of Ohio since 1953 and Xenia since 1958, Charles' heart was still in Kentucky, visiting frequently to visit family and life-long friends. Born in the hills of Eastern Kentucky, Charles spent a life of hard work, providing for his family, providing loving care for his wife, and following Jesus by serving others.  He was a friend to many, and never met a stranger.   The family would like to thank the caregivers at Legacy Assisted Living for theirprofessional and loving care, and the caregivers from Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held 11am, Saturday, February 1, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, Rev.
