Darrell L. Dawkins, 74, of Xenia, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, at his residence. He was born May 29, 1940, in Oakville, Iowa, the son of Melvin O. and Reola Waterhouse Dawkins. He was a member of Faith Community United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a 1958 graduate of Xenia High School, and retired as a financial planner. He is survived by his wife, Rosella "Rosey" (Kidder) Dawkins, whom he married December 19, 1959, a son, Gregory Dawkins, Hilliard, daughter, Cheryl Dawkins, Xenia, a special adopted grandchild, Maggie "Miss Magnolia" Hull, a brother, Orville Douglas "Doug" Dawkins, Knoxville, TN, brothers-in-law, Bill Kidder, Charles (Margaret) Kidder, and Dick (Linda) Kidder, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends, including a special church friend, Miss Michaela Skaggs. He was preceded in death by both sets of his parents. Memorial services will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 2, at Faith Community United Methodist Church, 100 Country Club Dr., Xenia, with Rev. Rick Tettau officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am Saturday, until service time.
