David L. Purdin, 83, of Cedarville, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Soin Medical Center. He was born September 1, 1940, in Peebles, Ohio, the son of Herbert and Ima Stewart Purdin. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Vietnam War, and retired from MCI. He was an avid golfer and loved golfing in the senior league at Locust Hills. He also loved having breakfast with his golfing buddies at Bob Evans on Friday mornings. He is survived by a daughter, Emily (Tom) Cooper, Lebanon, two sons, Andrew (Kim) Purdin, Lebanon, and Scott (Christy) Purdin, Xenia, nine grandchildren, Max (Maggie) Purdin, Tyler (Kristy) Purdin, Bailey Purdin, Zoe Purdin, Ally (Anthony) Welden, Samuel Purdin, Drew (Adrianna) Purdin, Jackson Cooper, and Carson Cooper, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandra K. "Sandy" Purdin, on April 25, 2021, sisters, Eileen Roberts, Ima Ary, Mary Curtis, Beulah Dean, and Martha Kiddie, and by brothers, Wayne, Paul, Joe, and Gene Purdin. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday, May 2, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Private graveside services will be held by the family Friday at 10 a.m in North Cemetery, Cedarville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-9959, in his memory.
