David P. Thompson, Jr., 77, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Greene Memorial Hospital. He was born August 16, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of David P. and Ada Mae Harter Thompson. He was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church and retired from Randall's (Textron) in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn K. (Dale) Thompson, a daughter, Robin Lowman, Kettering, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan (Lorraine) Thompson, Jamestown, Gary Thompson, Xenia, and Judy Thompson, Fairborn, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Julia "Chris") Thompson, Springboro, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a son, Stephen M. Thompson, and by a sister, Delores Hersting. Dave will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Peggy Cromer officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30am Saturday, until service time. Burial will be in New Burlington Cemetery. Contributions may be made to a favorite charity in his memory.
