Donna June Benson, 97, of Xenia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Legacy Village Assisted Living. She was born on February 17, 1929, in Washington Court House, Ohio, to Emil and Irene Porter.

Donna shared a beautiful love story with her husband, Robert "Bob" Benson. They were married on July 17, 1948, and spent 71 wonderful years together, building a life full of love, laughter, and devotion.

She worked as a secretary for the Cox and Brandabur Law Firm and later as a salesperson at Litt's clothing store in Xenia. But more than any job title, Donna will be remembered for the love she gave to the people and animals fortunate enough to know her. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend whose presence brought warmth, humor, and heart to those around her.

Donna had a special love for animals and cared for many pets throughout her life. In her later years, she still found so much happiness in the cats and dogs belonging to family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling and making memories on bus trips with friends through the Golden Age Senior Citizens Center.

Donna also had quite an ornery side. Family and friends always looked forward to the birthday cards she sent because, while she seemed sweet and innocent, her cards were often hilariously naughty. If you got a card from Donna, chances were good it was going to make you blush.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Bob; and her sister, Lela Chiffar.

She leaves behind many loved ones who will miss her dearly, including her nieces, Sandy Schickling, Debby Campbell, and Cindy (Jim) Beckman; her great-nieces, Amy (Paul) Thompson and Laura (Geoffrey) Miller; her great-nephew, Craig Campbell; her great-great-nephews, Chase and Spencer Thompson; as well as many other family members and dear friends.

Funeral services for Donna will be held at Valley View Memorial Gardens at 170 N. Valley Rd, Xenia, OH 45385 on Monday, March 16 at 10:30 am.
