Doris Lynn Grigsby, 78, of Xenia, loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 26, 2014. She was born August 19, 1936, in Appalachia, Virginia, the daughter of Robert Holly and Mary Annis Wells Cress. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Xenia, since 1967, where she was active in children's ministries, VBS, the nursery, and has been a part of church her whole life. She enjoyed being part of a Bible study group for the past 20 years. She retired from the United States Postal Service, Dayton. She is survived by her husband, George Grigsby, whom she married, December 1, 1962, a daughter, Donna Jean (Terry) Tegtmeyer, a son, George Shelby (Kathy) Grigsby, Jr., four grandchildren, Shelby Grigsby, Tyler Grigsby, Justin Tegtmeyer, and Ryan Tegtmeyer, all of Xenia, by a sister, Sue (Austin) Shirley, and a brother-in-law, Dewey Hopkins, all of Dayton, by numerous nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, by a sister, Wilma Hopkins, and by a brothers, Robert "Bud" Cress, Jr. Doris was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's activities. Doris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 10am, Friday, October 3, 2014, at the First Church of Christ, 441 Ledbetter Rd., Xenia, with Rev. Andy Spencer officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday, at the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville.
