Dorothy Montgomery, 88, of Xenia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Legacy Village. Her passing was on the same day as her 67 ^th wedding anniversary to her late husband Bob.  She was born August 7, 1932, in Greene County, Ohio, the daughter of Fred and Helen Wilson. She was a lifelong member of Faith Community United Methodist Church. Dorothy and her husband were instrumental in developing the local Stephen Ministry, which is a Christ centered care ministry to people experiencing life's difficulties.  Thank you to Judy Mahan who was Dorothy's Stephen Minister and special friend.  Dorothy was also actively involved in the church's grief ministry. Dorothy was an avid and accomplished golfer in her day including winning one of the spring handicap championships at WGC golf course in the 1970's. She was also an extremely competitive dominoes player! Dorothy was a wonderful, generous, loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.  She was loved in return by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.  One precious memory will be her excellent cooking and fellowship at meal time.  She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Blackbern, two sons, Bradley (Tami) Montgomery, and Eric (Amy) Montgomery, all of Xenia, six grandchildren, Timothy Blackbern, Thomas Blackbern, Blair (Charlie) Davis, Brook (Justin) Lodge, Kent (Amberly) Montgomery and Evan Montgomery, three great-grandchildren, William Lodge, Carter Davis, and Morgan Davis, a brother Dick Wilson and sister Rose Bottorff and brother-in-law, Richard Montgomery.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Montgomery, a son, Kent Montgomery, a great-granddaughter, Mia Jo Lodge, brother/sister and in laws Charles (Mary) Wilson, Betty (Charles) Manor, Maratha (Bob) McIntire, Lewis (Jackie) Montgomery.  A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 11am, Wednesday, April 14, at Faith Community United Methodist Church, Xenia, with Pastor Andy Wagner officiating. Burial will follow the service at Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. Due to Covid restrictions masks and social distancing will be appreciated.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Community United Methodist Church 100 Country Club Dr. Xenia, OH, 45385, or to a favorite charity in her memory.
