Ella Frances "Francie" (Gallenstein) Gelhausen, 77, of Xenia, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Trinity of Beavercreek. She was born July 4, 1948, in Maysville, Kentucky, the daughter of Frank and Barbara (Sauer) Gallenstein, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Gelhausen, whom she married, May 25, 1973, her devoted children, Melinda "Mindy" Gelhausen, Christopher Thomas (Jill) Gelhausen and Thomas Ryan Gelhausen, adoring granddaughters, Emily Gelhausen and Rachel Gelhausen, two sisters, Dr. Nancy Gallenstein and Gwenn "GiGi" Gallentstein, a brother, Frank (Eileen) Gallenstein, by her in-laws, aunts, several nieces and nephews, cousins and by many close friends, including her very dear TMC girls. Francie remained close with her classmates at all of her alma maters throughout the years.
She was a graduate of St. Gertrude Elementary, Regina High School and Thomas More University, member of St. Brigid Church (50+ years), Daughters of the American Revolution and retired from the Greene County Library. Francie led a life of empathy, compassion, generosity, humor, love, devotion, creativity, organization, service, faith, selflessness and caregiving. She cared for the elders in the family, providing care, companionship, independence, transportation, supplies and comfort. Nothing was more important to Francie than her family and friends and their health and happiness. Francie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 10 am at St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 5-8pm at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Private services will be held by the family in St. Brigid Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH, 45420, The Greene County Public Library Foundation at The Community Foundation, Greene Giving, 941 W. Second Street, Xenia, Ohio 45385, or to a favorite charity in her memory. Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com.
