Emma Jean (Spears) Ward, 99, of Xenia, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, at PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Miamisburg. She was born January 31, 1926, in Moreland, Kentucky, the daughter of Timothy and Lennie Lemley Spears. She is survived by a daughter, Betsy K. Gann, a son, Charles Wayne (Kaye) Stephenson, five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Timothy Stephenson, and seven brothers and sisters. In her younger years, Emma Jean would often enjoy time on the golf course with her ladies' league. Her final year of life was spent living with her daughter, Betsy Gann, making memories that her family will cherish. She will be remembered with love for her quiet poise, timeless style, and enduring love of Bluegrass music. Jean will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Private services will be held by the family in Kentucky.
