Ernest F. Beal, 96, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Hospitality Home East. He was born June 28, 1920, in Jamestown, Ohio, the son of Roscoe and Veda Hurley Beal. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He attended Mount Tabor Elementary School and Bowersville High School. He was a lifelong Greene County farmer, and worked at Delco Products, Dayton, Kroehler Furniture, and for the City of Xenia. He volunteered at the Xenia Fish Food Pantry as well as the Xenia Church of God. He also lived at John Sale Manor longer and any resident to date. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Lonnie) Roberts, Port William, and Kathy Beal, a son, Gary Beal, a son-in-law, Bentley Fields, all of Jamestown, seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, four step-daughters, Susan (Alan) Huelsman, Debbie (Dwight) Mannier, Jane (Douglas) McGlothen, of Xenia, and Elaine (Philip) Hale, Beavercreek, 12 step-grandchildren, numerous step-great-grandchildren, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Alvie (Moore) Beal, in 1978, his second wife, Clara (Travis) Byerly Beal, on September 19, 2003, a daughter, Bonnie Fields, a son, Paul Beal, a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Beal, four sisters. Juanita Gultice, Phyllis Walton, Julia Schmidt, and Beverly Hoffer, and by a brother, Robert Beal. Ernie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10am, Thursday, April 6, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
