Obituary

Frederick E. Berry, 76, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born February 25, 1940, in Connersville, Indiana, the son of Hastings and Florence Lauer Berry. He was a longtime member of Memorial United Presbyterian Church, and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired as a firefighter/paramedic with the City of Xenia. He was the past commander of American Legion Post # 95, was a member of VFW Post # 8312, Beavercreek, and Xenia Elks Lodge, 668. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie S. (Cox) Berry, whom he married, September 3, 1961, two daughters, Beth Berry, Fairborn, and Becky (Phillip) Pruitt, Victoria, TX, two grandchildren, Corey Smith and Paige Smith, two sisters, Frances Cook, his twin sister, Connersville, IN, and Carol Sue (Jan) Keller, Kokomo, IN,  by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Diane Berry, and by a half-brother, Albert Fache. Services will be held at 10am, Saturday, April 2, at Memorial United Presbyterian Church, Xenia, with Rev. Kelley W. Shin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Friday at the church, followed by an Elks service at 8pm. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 343 W.
