Obituary

George W. "Uncle Bill" Loptien, 89, of Xenia, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born November 9, 1925, in Ashland, Kentucky, the son of William and Ella Mae Worley Loptien. He was a member of North Side Christian Church and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. He was a longtime member and former treasurer of the Dayton Sail and Power Squadron (District 24). He retired as an aeronautical space engineer with WPAFB. He is survived by his wife, Hannah Mae (Reedy) Loptien, whom he married, June 22, 1952, sisters-in-law, Rose Shoemaker, Brookville, Margaret Kuhn, McArthur, Marsha (Chuck) Brown, Beavercreek, nieces and nephews, Kelly (Chuck) Bohse, Brookville, Lisa (Tony) Cull, Beavercreek, and T-Anne (Jim Andy) See, Barboursville, W. Va., and Steve Frush, W. Va., and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister, Mary Jo Lewis, and by a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth Anne (Tommy) Frush. . Services will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, March 10, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., with Rev. Andrew Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 noon Tuesday, until service time. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH, 45420, in his memory.
