Dr. Gerald D. "Jerry" Kelble, 82, formerly of Xenia and Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Hospice Savannah, Georgia. He was born June 22, 1941, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Charles and Dorothea Bobbitt Kelble. He was a parishioner of St. Brigid Catholic Church, and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a dentist in the Vietnam War. He is survived by his children, Ann Kelble (David Diers), Austin, TX, and Mary Kelble (Nelson Pinto), Savannah, GA, and a son, Christopher (Mary Margaret) Kelble, Wentzville, MO, three grandchildren--Abigail, Kaitlyn, and Zachary, a sister, Elaine (Donald) Steiner, a brother, William (Nancy) Kelble, by nieces, Leslie and Becky, and nephews, John, Ben, Adam, Paul, and Todd, as well as by Tom and Glenda Skinner, Jerry and Marti Plunkett, Virginia Keiser, and many other close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nancy (Wells) Kelble, on January 28, 1995, a son, David Kelble, on September 18, 1975, and by a sister, Anita Bentley, on April 22, 2015. Besides having a long and fulfilling career as a small-town dentist, "Doc" was known for his love of the outdoors. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed all manner of fishing, hunting (with and without his field trial dogs), and hiking, but especially loved to explore and share knowledge and experiences of the natural world with as many people as possible. He lived a big life. Jerry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, Friday, June 21, at St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairground Rd. Xenia. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a wildlife conservancy of your choice, in his memory.
