Glenn W.
Devoe, Jr.
April 2, 1931 – October 2, 2017
On October 2, 2017, Glenn W. DeVoe Jr, of Xenia, Ohio, 86, entered eternal life while at Hospice of Dayton. Glenn, who was affectionately known by all his friends as Cozy Jr, was born in Paintersville, Ohio, on April 2, 1931, to Glenn W. and Mildred (Connell) DeVoe, and was oldest of his four siblings. Glenn graduated from Jefferson High School in 1949 in Bowersville, Ohio. Everyone knew Glenn as a man of indisputable and utmost integrity. A man fully dedicated to his family, his farm, his church, and his community. Glenn was a member of Eleazer United Methodist Church, and served as a farm and community leader with several organizations including Caesercreek Township Trustee (26 yrs.), Greene County Conservation Board (16 yrs.), and Sheep and Wool Growers Association. In 1966, he was named Outstanding Young Greene County Farmer.
Glenn took every undertaking very seriously, but none more seriously than that of husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Geraldine "Jerri" (Meyers) DeVoe, his children Denise (Kenneth) Rowles of Findlay, Ohio, Keith (Lori) DeVoe of Brighton, Colorado, and Diana DeVoe of Frisco, Texas, his two grandchildren Kristina Rowles of Johnson City, Tennessee and Thomas Rowles of Findlay, Ohio, his sister Norma Tidd, his brother Ronald "Gabby" DeVoe, his sister-in-law Betty DeVoe, numerous nieces and nephews, and certainly by all those whom he called friends. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley (DeVoe) Glennen, and brother Thomas DeVoe. Cozy Jr, was incredibly blessed to have lived on his beloved farm until Saturday, the 23rd of September this year. And as Cozy would say himself . . . "I didn't own the land, it was God's. I was just a steward of the land." He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. We can all expect him to now be "Open for Business" in Heaven. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Thursday evening, October 5 at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. The Reverend Carla Stengel will be officiating services at 10am Friday morning at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Valley View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to Eleazer United Methodist Church, c/o Russell Curtis, 970 Valley Dale Dr., Xenia, OH, 45385, or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH, 45420.
