Obituary

Ida Fleming, 100, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017.  She was born September 10, 1916, in New Burlington, Ohio, to the late Arthur G. Peterson and Hattie W. Jones Peterson.  She was one of ten children. On May 25, 1935 she married her soul-mate George W. Fleming. She was preceded in death by her husband and by her grandson, Johnny Middleton. She is survived by her five children, Mona Fae Middleton (John) of Xenia, Joyce Davis (Carl) of Athens, GA; Donald Fleming (Peg) of Xenia; G. David Fleming (Linda) of Ripley, MS; and Vicki Thornburg (Jim) of Columbus. Her legacy also continues with her 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.  Ida retired from the Xenia City Schools after working 32 years as a head cook. Her focus and passion in life were family and family gatherings, camping trips and birthday/holiday celebrations. She truly loved God's outdoor world of musical songbirds, the colorful fragrant flowers (and her green thumb) and watching the mischievous squirrels, rabbits, and chipmunks. Services will be held at 10am, Monday, January 9, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Burlington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity in her memory. Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com .
