Obituary

Jack L. Luttrell, 92, of Xenia, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Liberty Nursing Center. He was born November 3, 1921, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Orville B. and Edna W. Glenn Luttrell. He was a member of St. Brigid Church, a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II, with the 37th Infantry Division (Ohio) at Guadalcanal, and with Merrill's Marauders, receiving the Bronze Star. He was a member of the China-Burma Veterans Association, the Knights of Columbus, VFW #8312, Alpha, and Xenia Elks Lodge # 668. He retired as a buyer/field representative with Super Valu. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mardell (Hank)Tackas-Oestrike, Chagrin Falls, Margene (Ernest) Robinson, Kettering, two sons, Gregory Luttrell, Cleveland and Anthony Luttrell, Romulus, NY, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a sister, Margaret Mercer, Xenia, a brother and sister-in-law Donald G. (Rita J.) Luttrell, Xenia, numerous nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lydia I. (Huber) Luttrell, on March 5, 2007, by a daughter, Mary Alice Luttrell, a son-in-law, Don Tackas, three sisters, Barbara Luttrell, Evelyn Louise Luttrell, and Catherine Lucille Luttrell, a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph W. and Mary Grace Luttrell, and by a brother-in-law, Gene Mercer. Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Monday, October 20, at St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia, with Rev. John Krumm officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Sunday at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
