Obituary

James Otis "Jim" Harner, 83, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022. He was born May 2, 1938, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Loren M. and Ruth Pramer Harner. He was a 1956 graduate of Xenia Central High School, a 1960 graduate of The Ohio State University, the owner of J.O. Harner Supply Co., Xenia, and  a long time member of Xenia Rotary.

He is survived by his wife, Sue (Wise) Harner, whom he married, July 3, 1960, children, J. Timothy (Connie) Harner, Xenia, and Rachel (Roy) Ray, Escondido, CA, four grandchildren, Sarah (Trevor) Wragg, Olivia Ray, Sophia Ray, and Gabriella Ray, four great-grandchildren, Nehemiah, Malachi, Annaliese, and Everleigh Wragg, and by many close friends.

Upon graduating from OSU, Jim returned to Xenia and joined his father in the Sinclair/Arco oil distribution business.  After the 1974 tornado, that business was destroyed and subsequently Jim and Sue purchased the J P Bocklett Company, which became Harner Supply. It opened in November 1974 on West Second Street and continued there until retirement in 2015.  JO loved his community and was very active in it over the years.  He had many interests including woodworking, golf, and cooking for his friends and family.  His jokes and hospitality will be missed by many.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to One Bistro, 87 E. Main St., Xenia, OH, 45385, or to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, c/o Greene County Library Foundation, 76 E.
