Later he worked as the Transportation Supervisor for Bellbrook Schools and finished his career as Director of Transportation for Montgomery County Board of MR/DD. He received the Ohio Transportation Director of the Year award for 1986-1987. Jim received Employee of the Year from MR/DD in 1991-1992. Upon retirement, Jim received the Dr. Roberta Weaver Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor given by the Board of MR/DD.
Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge #49 and Elks Lodge #668. He also enjoyed being a member of the Milton Athletic Club. Jim and his wife were charter members of Dayton Two-Steppers and enjoyed dancing and friendship until the club closed. Then they continued at JR's Two Steppers Club. Jim and his wife taught dance classes at several locations and were active dancers for almost 40 years.
Jim served as President of Miami Valley Beagle Club for 10 years. He was an active beagler and qualified to be a judge at field trials. One of his beagles he trained won
the title of Field Champion. One room of his home was devoted to trophies and plaques.
Jim was a faithful member of Faith Community United Methodist Church. Through the
years, he served on various committees and as Treasurer of UMM.
