Obituary

James B. Kyne, 92, of Spring Valley, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017, at his residence. He was born March 17, 1925, in Spring Valley, Ohio, the son of John B. and Mary I. Graney Kyne.  He was a member of St. Brigid Church, and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during World War II with the 2nd Marine Air Wing, Okinawa. He was a member of the Spring Valley Township Zoning Commission, VFW Post #8312, Beavercreek, and American Legion Post #95, Xenia. He retired from the United States Postal Service, worked at Frigidaire, Dayton, and was a longtime Greene County farmer. He is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Karen (Lynn) Carroll, Morrison, TN, Rebecca (Clay) Engle, Dayton, Gail Elizabeth Bratcher, Manchester, TN, Molly Kyne, and life partner, Dorothy Durbin, Sterling, VA, Mary Lou Kyne, and Melissa Jane (Paul) Martin, all of Spring Valley, four sons and daughters-in-law, James (Colleen) Kyne, Woodbury, TN, John (Joyce) Kyne, David (Debra) Kyne, and Christopher (Lisa) Kyne, all of Spring Valley, 35 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren  and  great-great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Jay B. (Nancy) Bretney, Oceanside, CA, many nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marjorie J. Kyne, on September 14, 2013, a son, Thomas J. Kyne, by five sisters, Margaret J. DeWine. Anna J. Jordan, Mary I. Schalk, Leona Manley, and Agnes Scammahorn, and by two brothers, John W. Kyne and Robert J. Kyne. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Friday, June 16, at St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia, with Rev. John Krumm officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Thursday at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Brigid Memorial Program, 259 Purcell Ave., Xenia, OH, 45385, in his memory.  Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com .
