Obituary

James D. Malavazos, 89, of Centerville, formerly of Xenia, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018, at Symphony of Centerville.  He was born October 8, 1929, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Charles M. and Angeliki Kontos Malavazos. He attended Fairhaven Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He graduated from Wilmington College, and retired as a investigator with the United States Department of Defense. He is survived by a daughter, Michelle (Michael) Murphy, Troy, OH, a son, Mark (Jennifer) Malavazos, London, OH, the mother of his children, Jackie Draheim, a granddaughter, Hunter Murphy, Columbus, a niece, Cherylle Malavazos, Palm Desert, CA, and by many close extended family and friends, including a special friend, Melinda Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Katharine M. Kohn and Mary A. Cole, a brother, Nicholas "Nick" (Ronnie) Malavazos, and by a nephew, Charles E. "Chuck" Malavazos. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Private services will be held by the family in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital, 700 Childrens Dr., Columbus, OH, 43205, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 W.
