Obituary

James W. Richardson, 59, of Xenia, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016, at his residence. He was born October 1, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Jess W. and Muriel Dean Allen Richardson. He was a member of Dayspring Ministries, Beavercreek. He retired from the State of Ohio, Madison Correctional Facility, London, and from the Ohio Veterans Children's Home (OVCH) after 17 years employment. He was also the owner of Retired Guy Home Maintenance, Xenia. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Y. (Wood) Richardson, whom he married, March 27, 1976, his mother, Muriel "Midge" Dean Allen Richardson Whittington, Xenia, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. Bernard (Pat) Wood, Xenia,  two sons, Nathan (Aimee) Richardson, Bellbrook, and Brian (Karen) Richardson, Beavercreek, four grandchildren, Isaac Richardson, Olivia Richardson, Evan Richardson, and Blake Richardson, a sister, Vicki Martin, Xenia, five step-brothers, David (Patty) Whittington, Norman (Connie) Whittington, Marlin Whittington, Tim Whittington, and Richard Whittington, sister-in-law, Elizabeth McCartan, brothers-in-law, Doug (Betty) Wood and Dan (Sherry) Wood, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jess W. Richardson, step-father, Thomas F. Whittington, and by a brother, Michael Richardson. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10am, Friday, September 16, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Pastor Ken Day officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen, 6120 South Gilmore Rd., Cincinnati, OH, 45014, in honor of his sister, Vicki, who is a breast cancer survivor, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 W.
