Jane (Finlay) Horner, 87, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at her residence. She was born May 11, 1937, in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Bocklett Finlay. She was a member of St. Brigid Church and a member of the Xenia Woman's Club. With her family, Jane lived in Asheville, North Carolina, for some 15 years. During that time, she gave many hours of volunteer time to the community through the Asheville Symphony Guild, the Home & School Association of the Asheville Country Day School, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and numerous other charitable organizations. Jane was an avid reader, enjoying time with others discussing books in book groups. She and her husband were devoted fans of the Cincinnati Reds, traveling at one point to Montréal to attend a game. She is survived by a son Kurt (Elizabeth) Horner, son-in-law Mitchell Bookey, two granddaughters Grace Horner (Ronnie Rivas) and Sophia Horner (Nikki Dobbs), a brother John (Ann) Finlay, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William D. Horner on January 14, 2013, her daughter Alexis Redfern Bookey on February 20, 2023, and by a sister, Gail Brim. Jane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday, January 17, at St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday, January 16, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Brigid Memorial Program, 258 Purcell Ave., Xenia, OH, 45385, to the Alzheimer's Association, 6077 Far Hills Ave., # 117, Dayton, OH, 45459, or to a charity of your choice in her memory.
