Jerald C. "Jerry" Murrell, 84, of Xenia, and Winter Haven, Florida, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. He was born July 16, 1933, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Earl "Dick" and Louise Cox Murrell. He was a member of the Jamestown Church of Christ, and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War. He was a 1951 graduate of Xenia High School and retired from Ohio Bell Telephone (AT & T) in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet C. (Garringer) Murrell, whom he married June 8, 1957, a daughter, Krystal Kinley, Xenia, a son, Keith (Traci) Murrell, Clovis, California, six grandchildren, Morgan (Jimmy) Miller, North Carolina, Jordan (Chris) Faiman, California, Kaitlin Murrell and Emily Murrell of California, and Brandon Kinley, New York, and Austin Kinley, Xenia, five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ella, and Piper of North Carolina, and Liam and Holden of California, by a sister, Phyllis Jean Strehle, Dayton, sister-in-law, Shirley Murrell, Lexington, KY, by numerous nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Eloise Adkins, Wanda Carman, and Winifred Leach, and by two brothers, Earl "Dick" Murrell, Jr., and Robert D. Murrell. Services will be held at 11am, Friday April 13, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Steve Rich officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am Friday until service time.
