Jerri F. Grooms of Xenia went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 05/11/2025,surrounded by her family. She was born May 9, 1944 in Cincinnati Ohio. She was a graduate of Hughes High School in Cincinnati Ohio in 1962. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Thomas A. Grooms, whom she married in 1969. She is also survived by her 3 sons, Aaron H. Grooms, Evan M. Grooms, Ian M. Grooms and his fiancée, Stacy Evans and her son Austin, all of Xenia, Ohio and daughter Sarah E. Wright (Dan Wright) of Newark, Ohio. She has 5 grandchildren, Marshall Grooms, Megan Grooms, Brinley Grooms, Adeline Wright and Gabrielle Wright. Also survived by a brother, William Madill (Margot), several nieces, nephews and many close friends, including a beloved niece, Jenny (Madill) Cunningham, who has always been ready to help when called upon, and her best childhood and lifelong friend, Linda (Marsh) Kukele. She was proceeded in death by her parents, William R. and Geraldine Burris Madill. Jerri performed as a Bearkitten her freshman year at the University of Cincinnati and was a Royalette for the NBA Cincinnati Royals. Jerri graduated with a BA degree in English from Milligan College in Tennessee, and did graduate work in remedial reading at East Tennessee State University. She taught first grade for 5 years in Cincinnati Public Schools at Elizabethan and Bond Hill schools. While living in Cedarville Ohio, she was actively involved with Cedarcliff Schools as a substitute teacher and teacher's aide. Jerri also worked as a reporter for the Xenia Daily Gazette. She retired after 25 years as a dedicated teacher of first grade at Xenia Nazarene Christian School. After her retirement, she was a substitute teacher and during after school hours tutored elementary students with Marge Butts and Rebecca Manning at Xenia Community Schools. Jerri will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Neeld Funeral Home in Xenia Ohio on Sunday June 1, 5 to 8 pm. Services will be held on June 2 at 10 am followed by burial at Woodland Cemetery.
