Jerrold W. "Jerry" Currey, 78, of Xenia, passed away peacefully at his home, on Friday, October 10, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. He was born September 2, 1936, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of the late Roy C. and Laura Belle Bowman Currey. Jerry was a 1955 graduate of Xenia High School, and enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. He had a long career in the automotive field, operating a Sunoco station in Xenia and a Sohio station in Centerville. After retirement from BP, Jerry worked at the Xenia WalMart for 13 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and by a brother-in-law, Don Gifford. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy M. (McCoy) Currey, whom he married, May 12, 1976, a daughter, Debra (Chris) Titus, a son, Jerry A. (Amy) Currey, step-children, Todd Amon and Stacy Ann Amon (fiancé, Bobby Hankel, and daughter, Macey Hankel), grandson, Dylan (Tamara) Thomas, great-grandchildren, Tate and Gavin Thomas, a sister, Marlene Gifford, by several nieces, including a special niece, Dawn (Wally) Dillingham, and by many close friends. Jerry was a friendly, fun-loving man with interests in cars and motorcycles and he will be remembered and sadly missed by his family and by many friends. Services will be held at 3pm, Tuesday, October 14, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Rick Tettau officiating. Visitation will be held from 2pm Tuesday, until service time.
