R. Joanne Moeller, 89, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at her residence. She was born March 24, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Joseph and Ruth (Marksbury) Beckett of Palmyra, Missouri. Joanne graduated from Roosevelt H. S., Chicago, and went to work in the advertisement department of the Hilton Hotel in Chicago. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Moeller, whom she married, August 8, 1952, son Craig Moeller and wife Julie, son Mark Moeller and wife Nancy (Miller), daughter Dawn Duke, and son Reed Moeller and wife Kathy (Musker); grandchildren Nichol and Ryan Moeller, Jasmine (Franz) and Chelsea (Von O'Hain), Wesley and Courtney Duke, a step granddaughter Kerri Sanchez, and by two step grandsons Brice Landry and Dennis Kircher. After marriage she became mother and homemaker. After numerous moves because of her husband's military and professional career, they settled in Xenia, Ohio. Joanne's was foremost a devoted mother to her four children. She was particularly proud of her service as a board member with the local United Way Chapter, teacher of pre-school children, a leader of Greene Memorial Hospital's Candy Striper's program, President of the Greene Memorial Hospital's Women's Auxiliary, a member of Xenia's Literary Club, a reading teacher of several groups of illiterate adults and an active former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Xenia. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10-11am Friday, June 9, at Xenia United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Rd., followed by a memorial service. Private burial will be held by the family in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-9959, in her memory.
