Obituary

Joe E. (Bubba) Leahey, of Centerville, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023. He was born February 27, 1939, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of John F. and Mabel M. Shaw Leahey. He retired as a teacher with the Farmersville and Dayton Public Schools in 1992. He received his bachelor degree from the University of Dayton in 1962 and Masters +30 years in educational administration from Xavier University in 1966. He graduated from St. Brigid School in 1957. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus since 1958. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Schnell (Sullivan) Leahey, step-children, Colleen (Paul) Dancy, Dayton, Tara Schnell, Austin, TX, and Andrew Schnell (Annette Albergo) Woodridge, IL, four step-grandchildren, Sarah Drew, Luca, Cosi and Remi, by several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and god child Jim Wimmers, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rosemary Payton, and by a brother, John F. Leahey.  Joe loved sports, especially bowling, softball, tennis, and golf. But his special love was his Dayton Flyers. Go Flyers! A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am   June 1st.  at St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to  Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa capital campaign please visit sinsinawa.org/donate in his memory.  Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com
