Joe Harold Orihood, 71, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at his home. He was born December 4, 1947, in New Holland, Ohio, the son of John and Marion Weidinger Orihood. Having served in Vietnam, he was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. After a thirty-year career as a mechanic, Joe retired from ODOT. Atop the blue tractor, "Frustration," one of Joe's hobbies was tractor pulling. He was also a competitive, champion pitcher and President of the Greene County Horseshoe Club. He had "shoe" friends throughout the state and their hospital visits brightened his days. His father, John, preceded him in death. He is survived by his 4-H sweetheart and wife of fifty years, Sue (Blocher) Orihood, whom he married, August 24, 1968. Family members who will miss Joe's steadfast strength and loyalty include: Todd and Diana Blocher, Kyle Blocher and Emilee Moyer, Shelby Blocher and Pierson Grant, Amanda Wallace and Jeff Simons, Lucas and Danielle M. Chard, Jean Chard, and Dr. David and Mrs. Orm Bone. His smiles and every-ready willingness to help will be remembered by his many close friends. Missing their places on his lap or by his side are Abby, Peaches, and Briley. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
