Obituary

John C. Bloom, 102, of Xenia, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. John was born March 5, 1919, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Karl Bloom and Marguerite Jobe Bloom. He was a member of the Xenia United Presbyterian Church, and veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. John graduated from Xenia Central High School and was a 1941 graduate of Ohio State University, majoring in business administration. John marched in the Buckeye Band and was a part of the band that started Script Ohio. He retired from DESC in 1983, enjoying a long retirement. He is survived by a son, William (Nancy) Bloom and four daughters. Daughters Marguerite (David) Blizzard, Suzanne Bloom, and stepdaughters Susan (Stephen) Randall and Karen (Stahr) Bloom, and. John also had several grandchildren; Amy (Ramen) Libby, Katie (Kyle) Spengler, Kelly (Jordan) Londravllle, Abby(Jeremy) Williamson, Heather (Marcelo) Figueroa, Matthew (Leigha) McCarty, Rachel (Phil) Roche, Jennifer (Andy) Adler, Jessica, Amanda Meghan Randall; as well as 11 great grandchildren. John was also survived by one brother Karl "Barney" Bloom, Montpelier VT. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Marjorie (Pope) Bloom and Jeanette (Walker) Bloom, stepmother Ruth Bloom brother James Bloom and granddaughter Krissy Terada. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a very proud member and contributor to his Xenia community.  A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, October 27, at Xenia United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Rd., Xenia. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
