John D. Mallow, 88, of Xenia, passed away April 14, 2016, at his residence. He was born November 16, 1927, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Chester L. and Mary E. Douthett Mallow. He left behind a son, Jeff (Dianna) Mallow, two grandsons, Brad Mallow, and Andrew (Gina) Mallow, two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Joshua, whom he dearly loved, a sister, Betty Morris, a sister-in-law, Barbara Mallow, and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Ralph Mallow. He was a member of Memorial United Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member and past grandmaster of the Xenia Masonic Temple, Lodge #49, F. & A. M. He lived and worked at the family orchard for 85 years. The last three years he lived at John Sale Manor. He had many friends in the community and found many new friends at John Sale, including two special friends Ernie and Jean. He enjoyed all the activities at the residence, especially Bingo, lunchtime, and even the Prom. His favorite constant companion was a pet schnauzer named Lacy whom he adored. Many residents got a kick out of him taking her for walks in a baby stroller. He also enjoyed steam trains, Civil War history, "circle a word" puzzles, and reading. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Xenia Masonic Temple, 223 Corwin Ave., Xenia, OH, 45385, in his memory. Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com .
