John Robert Shaner, 88, of Xenia, passed away Thursday evening, December 3, 2009, at Greene Memorial Hospital. He was born May 20, 1921, in Dayton, the son of John William and Carrie Mae Butcke Shaner. He was a member of Memorial United Presbyterian Church, a veteran of the US Army, during World War II, a member of the John Durst Lodge #513, F. & A.M., and was the former owner of Main One TV in Xenia. John was also a former driver for "Meals on Wheels" and senior transportation. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, Mary M. (Maranville) Shaner, and by three sisters and a brother. Services will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, December 9, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Wayne McLaughlin officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30am Wednesday until service time. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Dayton. Neeld Funeral Home is in charge of services.
