Obituary

John Timothy Walker went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 26, 2021.  He was born January 7, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Alexander and Eva Goodwin Walker. John was a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, West Point, NY.  He served on 3 vessels as a Seaman and earned the Honorable Service Button, Merchant Marine Emblem, Presidential Testimonial Letter and the Victory Medal.  He worked at NCR as an Instructor and at the age of 62 retired as a Field Engineer.

John loved God with his whole heart, loved his Family and his Country.  He loved making Memories with his Family, Lake Life, the Beach, Playing Tennis, Traveling, Being Involved at Church, Music and so much more.  He lived life with a Positive Attitude of Gratitude, and professed that God is in Control & Great is Thy Faithfulness!  John was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Jean "Betty" (Mattila) Walker, his son, John R. Walker, his 5 siblings and their spouses.  He is survived by two daughters: Cindy (Gary) Bowser, Jeffersonville, IN, Kathy (Jerry) Allen, Xenia, OH, daughter in law Eva Walker, Bradenton, FL; grandchildren: Amy Yost, D.J. (Lisa) Zickefoose, Jake (Darci) Allen, Nikki (Jeff) Vawter, Stacey (Derek) Oldert , Krystle (Todd) Gossett, John (Bristy) Walker, Amy (Tim) Thomas, David (Emily) Midgely; 19 great grandchildren:  Phillip, Collin, Aubrey, Kelsey, Maren, Jack, Cole, Chase, Aleeyah, Tenley, TJ, Mason, Maddox, Brianna, Jaxson, Maverick, Cameron, Ethan, Payton, several nieces and nephews and many close friends. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Joyce E. Walker of 22 years. He is survived by Joyce's children: Cheryl (Don) Glaze, Dale (Pam) Hohlbaugh, Darrell (Lisa) Hohlbaugh, Doug (Heidi) Hohlbaugh; grandchildren: Erica (Matt) Miller, Jessica Bulgrin, Brooke, Lindsay, Logan & Jackson Hohlbaugh and great grand children: Liam, Nora, Ward and Ray.

John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Private graveside services will be held April 3, 2021. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice of Dayton or The Activity Department at Friends Care Center, Yellow Springs, OH in his memory.  Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com .
