Obituary

Karen West Hagler, 76, of Xenia, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at her residence, surrounded by her four children. She was born July 13, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Burton L. and Dorothy Olive Lee West, Jr. She attended Carleton College in Minnesota and was a graduate of The Ohio State University (1965). Born and raised in Upper Arlington, she moved to Xenia in 1965 after her marriage to Robert A. Hagler, father of her children. She retired as a realtor with McIlvaine Realty and as office manager of Burton L. Hagler, DDS, Inc. She is survived by her children, Burt (Roxann) Hagler, Jeff (Tami) Hagler, Tracy (Doug) Elam, and Jenni (Mike) Grooms, grandchildren, Kelsey Elam, Brooke Elam, Davis Hagler, Molly Hagler, Grant Hagler, Lee Hagler, West Hagler, Marnie Hagler, Will Grooms, and Sam Grooms, a sister, Janyce Yeager, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind close family, Mary Barnes, Carla Anderson and Judy Lang (like sisters), and Todd Reichley and Mike Jones (like children). She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a sister, Patricia Walters. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Mark and Stacie Oxman. Karen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12noon, Saturday, August 4, at Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Rd., Xenia, with Pastor Greg Delaney officiating. The family will meet friends from 10am Saturday until service time at the church. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH, 45420, in her memory.
