Kenneth Talkington, Jr., 82, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015, at his residence. He was born September 5, 1932, in Wallace, West Virginia, the son of Kenneth Arthur and Retha Parsons Talkington. He was a former member of the First Assembly of God, Xenia Masonic Lodge, # 49, F & A. M., and VFW Post #2402. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War, where he received a Purple Heart. He retired from Dayton Tire and Rubber. He is survived a daughter, Jeannie Donese Talkington, Beavercreek, a son, Kenneth (Monica) Talkington, III, Xenia, three grandchildren, Marcie Marie (Freddie) Thompson, Miamisburg, Ashley Ann (Bob) Firman, Beavercreek, and Isaiah Talkington, Yellow Springs, five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Drew, Carter, Rylan, and Blake, two sisters, Beverly Angel (Jerry Groves), Kettering, and Debbie Amos, Clarksburg, W. VA., a brother, Jim (Brenda) Talkington, Wallace, W. VA., a half-brother, Neil Stire, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nellie Marie (Jones) Talkington, on November 28, 2007, and by four brothers, Robert Talkington, Ronald Talkington, Page Talkington and Kenzel Talkington. Graveside services will be held at 10am, Friday, January 6, at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, with Rev. Ronald Swiger officiating. There will be no visitation.
