Obituary

Larry G. Chaney, 78, of Xenia, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 25, 2016, at Kettering Medical Center. He was born October 7, 1937, in Harrison Township, Ohio, the son of Ellis and Evelyn Alspaugh Chaney. He was a member of Bethel Community Church and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War.  He was a 1956 graduate of Fairborn High School and retired from General Motors-Harrison Radiator, Dayton, after 33 years. He was a special deputy with the Greene County Sheriff's office for 32 years and enjoyed working at Kil-Kare Speedway for over 34 years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen Ann (Lewis) Chaney, his children, Paul Chaney, Laura Chaney, godson, James Harkleroad, and goddaughter, Leslieann Duncan McGinnis, three grandchildren, Jacqueline Chaney, John Ernest Chaney, and Brandon Chaney, and their mother, Stacy Chaney, all of Xenia, two brothers-in-law, Bill (Judy) Lewis, Xenia, and Sam (Karen) Lewis, Fairborn, and by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Dave Chaney. Services will be held at 10am, Saturday, July 30, at Bethel Community Church, 1020 Lower Bellbrook Rd., Xenia, with Rev. John E. Lockwood officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Friday at the church. Burial will be in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs.
