Larry E. Jackson, 77, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was born January 22, 1940, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Edwin and Ermalene Herdman Jackson. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force (X-Ray Technician, 1958-1962). He was employed at Ellis Ford (1962-64), the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, where he was promoted to detective sergeant, was Chief of Police, Mad River and Brookville, and had over 20 years in law enforcement, security positions, and in law enforcement classes. He was a driver for Greene Cats, retired as a school bus driver for Beavercreek City Schools and was a greeter at the Xenia WalMart. Larry was a huge auto enthusiast and enjoyed buying "Collector" project cars and working on rebuilding them. He loved genealogy, and had prepared many in depth family trees for families. He would spend hundreds of hours on family histories, providing detailed information in notebooks, along with photos and documentation for families…and he did it all for FREE!!! Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by a daughter, Sherri Ann DeWine, a son, Larry Allen Jackson, the mother of his children, Ruth Ann (Carroll) Muterspaw Saunders, three grandchildren, Stephen (Julie) Jackson, Dustin (Samantha) Bennett, and Sara Bennett, six great-grandchildren, Logann and Carter Jackson, Tyler Neff, Khloe Ivy, and Kendal and Cameron Bennett, a sister, Anita (Keith) Vogler, a special nephew, Ed (Alice) Livesay, and special loving and dear friend, Sandy Kucinsky. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, September 23, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Mark Brooks officiating.
