Obituary

Laura C. Grooms, 97, of Xenia, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born August 20, 1919, in Adams County, Ohio, the daughter of Milton I. and Edna Pearl Bowles Burns. She attended the Jamestown Presbyterian Church. She is survived by seven daughters, Barbara (Ronald) Perrine, Xenia, Donna Woods, Hillsboro, Carolyn (Charlie) Mullikin, Port Orange, FL, Sharon (Bob) Liming, Mesa, AZ, Christine (Fred) Meadows, Xenia, and Beverly (Ron) Matthews, Kettering, three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe (Veda) Grooms, Port Orange, FL, Donald (Ann) Grooms, North Carolina, and Milo (Kathy) Grooms, Gold Canyon, AZ, 25 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Faye Sparrow, Englewood, FL, several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray E. Grooms, on May 20, 1997, by a daughter, Patricia Ann Spin, and by three sisters, Cora Murrell, Dana Hilderbrand, and Ruby Smith. Laura will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, February 2, at Silvercreek Township Cemetery, Jamestown. There will be no visitation.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Dr., Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY, 10573, or to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, OH, 45206, in her memory.
