Obituary

Leslieann Duncan McGinnis, 47, of Jamestown, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, after a seven month courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born June 13, 1970, in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of John T. (Jack) and Lois Mullins Duncan. She attended Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Xenia. She had been a hairdresser at New Image Salon in Xenia for many years. Leslieann loved sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, camping, and spending time with her loving family. She is survived by her loving and devoted parents, Jack and Lois Duncan; her loving husband, Van McGinnis, whom she married on November 10, 2013. Her children also survive including Cole Phillips (Kerri Ann), Zachariah Phillips, Elizabeth Grace Phillips, Megan Phillips (Jesse) and Katie McGinnis. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Erin Patrick Duncan and their children, Jack and Emma Duncan, of Cincinnati. An outpouring of love was shown to Leslieann during her illness by her extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins and very dear friends.
Leslieann was a caring and loving person who never met a stranger and her extended family and friends exemplified this in her short life on earth. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Hospice of Dayton for providing wonderful services and care for Leslieann during these last few weeks.
Memorial services will be held at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church, 1121 Dayton Avenue, Xenia, Ohio, on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10:30 A.M. with Rev Jon Young officiating. A luncheon hosted by the gracious members of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church will follow the service and the family will visit with friends at that time. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
