Linda G.
Howey
June 14, 1938 – June 19, 2024
Linda G. Howey (Nana), 86, of Xenia, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Friends Care Center, Yellow Springs. She was born June 14, 1938, in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of Russell Melvin and Gwendolyn Games Lawwill. She was an active member of Xenia United Presbyterian Church. Linda was a graduate of Hanover College in Indiana and was a former teacher in the Lebanon, Fairborn, and Xenia school districts. She was also employed as a dental technician in Yellow Springs for several years. However, Linda's favorite endeavor was being Nana to all of her grandchildren. She was proud of all of them and was there for as many of their life events as possible. Linda has lived a life of service to her family, friends and church fellowship. After her husband's death, she worked with other members of her church to build support groups that helped others who had loss spouses to remain active and connected. She re-connected with friends from her youth and met them on a regular basis and take trips around the United States. Linda was fiercely independent. She remained in her home through health challenges in recent years and was driving to meet friends and family up to and including the day of her most recent illness. Linda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Margaret (Terence) Johnson, Fairborn, a son, Hugh Melvin (Luzmila "Lucy") Howey, Little Elm, TX, by three grandchildren, Erin (Bryan) Richards, Ian Johnson, and Hugh Chad Howey, three step-grandchildren, Richard Ingram, Brianna Baird, and Travis Ingram, two step-great-grandchildren, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hugh M. Howey, on December 17, 2013, an infant daughter, Denise Howey, sister and brother in-law, Joyce & Joseph Monroe. A Celebration of Linda's life will be held at 11am Monday, July 8, at Xenia United Presbyterian Church, Xenia, with Rev. Mike Wakeland officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11am at the church. Private burial will be held by the family in Valley View Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Xenia United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Rd. Xenia, OH, 45385, in her memory. Condolences may be made to the family at www.NeeldFuneralHome.com.
