Obituary

Lita F. "Floreta" Kitts, 89, of Xenia, passed away Friday, November 1, 2024, at her residence. She was born February 16, 1935, in Richlands, Virginia, the daughter of Roscoe and Hazel Poore Steele.  She was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.  She is survived by her two daughters, Marcella "Lynn" Penn, and Cheryl Ann (Jerry) Jones, 7 grandchildren, Melissa Penn, Zachariah (Jennifer) Dean, Malachi (Ashley) Dean, Heather Austin, Benjamin Penn, Kristen (Matt) Tamplin, and Caleb (Kari) Dean, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, five sisters: her twin sister, Almeta Robertson, Linda Thurmond, Carol Kitts, Monica Lenker, and Teresa (Joe) Smith, by several nieces and nephews, and by many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Burton "H.B." Kitts, on May 15, 2016, a sister, Juanita ("Hun") Shelton, and by a brother, Benton Steele. Lita will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 11am, Thursday, November 7, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Pastor Malachi Dean officiating. Visitation will be held from 10amThursday, until service time. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6077 Far Hills Ave., #117, Dayton, OH, 45459, in her memory.
