Lois C. (Schmidt) Ellison, 88, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Elmcroft of Xenia. She was born November 28, 1928, in Wolf, Ohio, the daughter of Oscar and Ethel Arth Grosenbacher. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Temple and the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center. Lois attended Bliss Business College, Columbus, and retired as a secretary for the City of Xenia. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).  She is survived by children and spouses, Kathleen (Don) Reuter, Columbus, Robert (Caroline Shugart) Schmidt, Logan, UT, Paul (Lesa) Schmidt, Fairfax Co., VA, Karl (Lori) Schmidt, Jamestown, and Don Schmidt, Greenville, 14 grandchildren, Amanda Reuter, Anastasia Reuter, Katelin (Elan) Dalton, Wesley Shugart-Schmidt, Kira Schmidt, Tamara (Carlos) Bruno, Cory Schmidt, Kristin (Joel) Yoder, Christopher (Cathy) Garner, Jennifer Garner, Damin Schmidt, James Schmidt, Jean Heitman, and Nathan Schmidt, 2 great-grandchildren, Cienna and Carter, two sisters, Eva (Robert) Shaffer, Tuscarawas, and Betty McGlashan, Delaware, a brother, Carl (Neva) Grosenbacher, New Philadelphia, by many nieces and nephews, and by numerous close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Donald P. Schmidt, on February 17, 1988, and by her second husband, Donald M. Ellison, on July 17, 2005, two sisters, Edna Rank and Era Chilcote, and by three brothers, Howard, Willard, and Ivan Grosenbacher. Services will be held at 11am, Friday, February 3, at Freedom Baptist Temple, 1067 US Route 68 S., Xenia, with Pastor Damon Medeiros officiating. Visitation will be held 10am Friday, until service time at the church. Private burial will be held by the family in Valley View Memorial Gardens following the service.
