Loraine Compton Crawford's Obituary
Loraine Compton Crawford, 91, of Xenia, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020, at her daughter's home in Beavercreek. She was born November 24, 1929, in Spring Valley, Ohio, the daughter of Max and Lucille Thomas Compton.
A 1947 graduate of Spring Valley High School, she was a member of Spring Valley United Methodist Church and previously attended Faith Community United Methodist Church and Xenia Friends Church. She retired from the Xenia YMCA in 1993 and also worked at Geyer's Office Supply, DP&L, and Hooven & Allison. She married Robert C. Crawford on June 25, 1949.
She is survived by children: Jim (Cyndi) Crawford of Xenia, Jane (Kirk) Henning of Beavercreek, Judie Spitz of Xenia, and Steve Crawford of Columbus; 12 grandchildren: Becky (Dan) Cannon, Greg Crawford, Kate Henning, Kristin Henning, Matt (Kara) Spitz, Jess (Jared) Huffman, Andy Spitz, Anna (Jake) Leightenheimer, Abbie McNamee (fiancé Fred Langenstein), Hillary (Ethan) Wahl, Patrick (Katie) McNamee, and Garrett McNamee; 6 great-grandchildren: Addison, Emma, Elsie, Jackson, Braxton, and Parker. She also leaves her best friend and sister Shirley Dill, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Loraine was proceeded in death by her parents; siblings Bud, Marvin, Gerri, and Don; husband Bob (2008); and beloved daughter Julie (2014).
Due to COVID restrictions, a private graveside service will be held for the family at Woodland Cemetery. A virtual celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 20 at 2 pm. Please contact Steve Crawford ( src815@gmail.com ) for Zoom instructions.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Dayton ( hospiceofdayton.org ) or to Spring Valley United Methodist Church, 1 W. Walnut St., Spring Valley, OH 45370.

A joint celebration of remembrance for sisters Shirley Compton Dill and Loraine Compton Crawford is scheduled for Saturday, June 26 starting at 2 pm at Spring Valley United Methodist Church, 1 W. Walnut St., Spring Valley, OH.
Loraine, 91, passed on December 11, 2020, and is survived by children Jim (Cyndi) Crawford, Jane (Kirk) Henning, Judie Spitz, and Steve Crawford, 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob (2008), and daughter, Julie (2014).
Shirley, 92, passed on January 2, 2021, and is survived by children Barb Schmedeke and Jan (Greg) Henize, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill (1986), and her sons Tom (2007) and Don (2009).
Together, their children invite all family and friends to honor their legacies with Pastor Dar Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 pm. A dessert reception will follow. Neeld Funeral Home is servicing the families. Service will be streamed on Facebook via Spring Valley United Methodist Church.
